Ukraine still supplying arms to Georgia

Ukraine continues shipping arms and military equipment to Georgia, a member of the Ukrainian parliament said on Thursday.

The Yushchenko-Saakashvili arms business goes on," said Valeriy Konovalyuk, former head of a parliamentary commission that looked into Ukrainian arms supplies to Georgia following the August 2008 conflict in the Caucasus.
He said, in particular, modern air-defense systems were being sold "for peanuts" to the Georgian military.

"He added that later in October Ukrspetsstroi plans to sell to Georgia 12 modern T-84 Oplot tanks, among other weapons.

He said that upcoming deliveries include 10 T-72 tanks, three BTR-80 armored personnel carriers, 20 Igla man-portable antiaircraft missile systems and 40 Strela shoulder-fired surface-to-air missile systems, as well as an assortment of ammunition, shells and rockets.

ยูเครนยังคงขายอาวุธให้กับจอร์เจียหลายรายการ ซึ่งจอร์เจียมีแผนจะซื้อ ถ.หลัก แบบ T-84 Oplot จำนวน 12คันจากยูเครน
รวมถึงการจัดหาอาวุธ แบบอื่นๆเช่น ถ.หลัก T-72 10คัน, รถหุ้มเกราะล้อยางลำเลียงพล BTR-80 3คัน, อาวุธปล่อยพื้นสู่อากาศแบบประทับบ่ายิง Igla 20ระบบ รวมถึงอาวุธและกระสุนจำนวนหนึ่ง

ถึงแม้ว่าจะเป็นการจัดหาอาวุธในจำนวนไม่มากนัก แต่หลังจากสงครามระหว่างจอร์เจียและรัสเซียในปีที่แล้ว ทางรัสเซียคงมีการจับตามความเคลื่อนไหวนี้ของทั้งยูเครนและจอร์เจียอย่างใกล้ชิดครับ

T-84 Oplot  เป็น ถ.หลักที่พัฒนาโดย Kharkiv Morozov ประเทศยูเครน ซึ่งมีแบบแผนมาจาก T-80UD ใช้ ย.ดีเซลกำลัง 1,200แรงม้า หนัก 48ตัน ทำความเร็วบนถนนได้สูงสุด 65-70กิโลเมตรต่อชั่วโมง
อาวุธหลัก ปืนใหญ่ 125mm ปืนกลร่วมแกน 7.62mm และ ปืนกลหนัก 12.7mm โดย Oplot มีการออกแบบป้อมปืนใหม่ เกราะป้องกันแบบก้าวหน้า และติดตั้งระบบป้องกันตัวเองใหม่ครับ
