MIG-21 crashes in India; sixth incident this year

NEW DELHI: A MIG-21 fighter crashed on Thursday in Upper Assam but the pilot managed to bail out.

It was the sixth IAF aircraft crashed this year and the second MIG -21 within a month.

The type-77 aircraft took off from Chabua airbase around 1400 hrs in Upper Assam, but it crashed immediately just outside the airbase into paddy fields, media reports quoting IAF sources said.

MiG-21 อินเดียซึ่งบินขึ้นจากฐานทัพอากาศ Chabua ตกที่บริเวณตอนเหนือของรัฐอัสสัม นักบินดีดตัวออกได้ นับเป็นการตกของ MiG-21 ครั้งที่2ในเดือนนี้และเป็นครั้งที่6ในรอบครึ่งปี

MiG-21 รุ่นดังกล่าวเป็นแบบที่อินเดียผลิตเองในประเทศโดย Hindustan Aeronautics หรือ HAL  กำหนดแบบเป็น Type 77 Trishul
 (นอกจากนั้นยังมี Type 75 Bis, Type 88 และ Type 96 Bison ซึ่งเป็นรุ่น Upgradeล่าสุด)
ซึ่งอินเดียมี MiG-21 ประจำการรวมกว่า 200ลำ ซึ่งในระยะเวลาที่ประจำการมาหลายสิบปีนั้นได้เกิดอุบัติเหตุตกเป็นจำนวนมากและมีนักบินเสียชีวิตหลายนาย
ซึ่ง บ.MiG-21 นั้นจะถูกแทนที่ด้วย บ.ในโครงการ MMRCA จำนวน126ลำในอนาคตครับ
