Two RAF Crew Die In Tornado Hillside Crash

Two RAF air crew were killed when their Tornado jet crashed in remote countryside in Scotland, the Ministry of Defence has said.
The plane, from RAF Leuchars in Fife, was on a training flight when it hit a hillside at 11.45am in Glen Kinglas, Argyll.
An MoD spokesman said: "It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Defence must confirm the deaths of two RAF air crew from 43 Squadron.
"The next of kin have been informed and have requested a period of 24 hours grace before further details are released."
The Tornado F3 came down near a tourist spot known as the Rest And Be Thankful on the A83 Arrochar to Inveraray Road, northwest of Loch Lomond.
No civilians are understood to have been hurt.
Search and rescue helicopters from the HMS Gannett naval base and RAF Lossiemouth were scrambled to search the area for the wreckage and crew.
An RAF spokesman said there had been a small blaze at the scene which the fire service dealt with.
Air accident investigators will try to establish the cause of the crash which happened when the weather was said to be overcast.
Witness Andy Graham, 60, described how he saw two Tornados flying low in the area around lunchtime.
"We get jets flying over here on training exercises quite regularly. It's not unusual to see them and you definitely hear them," he said.
"But today they seemed to be flying much lower than normal. We watched them fly along the loch, up through the glen and towards the Rest And Be Thankful."

New SAF unit formed

CRACK units of the Singapore Armed Forces - the Army's Commandos and Special Operations Force, and the Navy's divers - will be brought together under one command to tackle terrorist threats.
Previously, these units operated independently.
The newly-formed Special Operations Task Force, however, will mix and match the different capabilities of Singapore's elite soldiers to muster a faster, sharper response to varying threats.
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who gave details of the new structure in an interview ahead of SAF Day, which falls on Wednesday, said it would allow the special forces to work together much more cohesively and effectively.
Integration, he noted, is important, because dealing with terrorists requires bringing guns to the fight on land, in the air and over the sea, and could involve storming buildings, aircraft and ships.
The units involved in the re-organisation have sophisticated capabilities in one or more of these areas.
But DPM Teo, who also the defence minister, said: 'We need to bring together these capabilities, develop them in a much more complete, coherent manner.'
The new set-up will be headed by the current Chief Commando Officer, Colonel Lam Shiu Tong.
The SAF's latest re-organisation follows similar exercises in the Army, Navy and Air Force to better police Singapore's borders, waters and airspace.

ซึ่งการพัฒนาการปฏิบัติร่วมกันลักษณะนี้น่าจะเพิ่มศักยภาพในการปฏิบัติการมากขึ้นครับ
